Christy Knowings, who starred in more than thirty episodes of Nickelodeon's All That, has passed away at the age of forty-six. As per a report shared by TMZ, citing an unnamed family member, Knowings suffered an asthma attack and was hospitalized on Friday, Aug. 7, at a Los Angeles-area hospital, where she was placed on life support before passing away on Tuesday, Aug. 11.

Fellow All That alum Kenan Thompson, who is now forty-eight years old, reacted to the news on Instagram.

"Man this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!"

Knowings joined the cast of All That in 1997, making her final appearance on the sketch comedy show in 1999. Beyond the Nickelodeon series, she appeared in the 2009 film Mother and Child, on which she also holds a writing credit. Her most recent on-screen credits were three appearances on Sesame Street, spanning 2009 to 2011.

Bynes was just ten years old when she was scouted at a children's comedy camp by All That's producers. As per a report shared by Paper Magazine, the experience was "unbelievable" for the longtime fan of the show. She quickly became one of its biggest stars, thanks to her hit sketch "Ask Ashley," and by thirteen, she was popular enough to land her own series, The Amanda Show, which ran for three high-rated seasons and helped launch the careers of Drake Bell and Josh Peck.

Her television success translated into a string of film roles, including Big Fat Liar, She's the Man, What a Girl Wants, Hairspray and Sydney White. She also starred opposite Jennie Garth on The WB's What I Like About You. In 2010, Bynes appeared alongside Emma Stone in Easy A, which turned out to be her final film. She announced her retirement from acting via Twitter shortly after, at the age of twenty-four.

In 2019, Bynes checked into a mental health facility following a reported relapse. She has since remained largely out of the spotlight, though rare public appearances have followed.

Kenan Thompson:

Thompson was the last kid cast for All That's inaugural season in 1994, the same year he starred in D2: The Mighty Ducks. As per a report shared by Complex, his casting came not from a traditional audition but from a meeting with producers where he kicked his feet up on their desk and asked,

"What can I do for you guys?"

He added, laughing, that he supposed they were impressed enough to hire him. Thompson became one of All That's early breakout stars, landing his own Nickelodeon spinoff, Kenan and Kel, and a feature film, Good Burger. That being said, as per a report shared by EW, he admitted the transition out of the network was difficult.

"Leaving Nickelodeon was definitely an adjustment. Because then it was back to the real world of, 'Now I'm an adult looking for a job.'"

Thompson has since more than found his footing. He made his Saturday Night Live debut in 2003 and, after more than twenty seasons, now holds the record for the longest-tenured cast member in the show's history. He won his first Emmy in 2018 for the original song "Come Back Barack."

Kel Mitchell:

Mitchell was fifteen years old when he nearly bombed his All That audition, not from nerves, but because it fell on the same day as a big school exam. The information overload caused him to go completely blank in front of the producers. As per a report shared by Complex, it was an accidental save that turned things around.

"I'm walking out and I knock over these power cords to some electronics in the room, and I played it off real funny. They started cracking up."

Mitchell went on to play some of the show's most beloved characters, including Coach Kreeton, The Repairman, Pizza Face, and Ed from Good Burger, the last of which proved popular enough to land a feature film spinoff. He and Thompson were also pulling double duty with their spinoff series, Kenan and Kel. Mitchell described the atmosphere on set warmly, telling Complex,

"Universal Studios in Florida was our backyard. In between scenes, we would jump lines and ride rides."

After both shows ended, Mitchell made consistent TV appearances and appeared in Kanye West's music video for "All Falls Down." He returned to Nickelodeon in 2015 for Game Shakers and later reunited with Thompson for Good Burger 2 in 2023.

Nick Cannon:

Cannon didn't start out as an All That cast member. As per a report shared by Complex, he was sixteen years old and doing stand-up in Los Angeles when someone from the show spotted him and brought him in as the audience warm-up act and writer.

"I was entertaining the audience while the cast was in the back changing."

He later became a writer on Kenan and Kel, developing a close bond with Thompson, whom he called his "big brother." When asked to join All That as a cast member, Cannon admitted he was "a little reluctant," as he already had his own TV and record deal with Will Smith's company. Family won out though, and he joined for two seasons.

After All That, Cannon starred in Drumline and Love Don't Cost a Thing before launching Wild 'N Out. The improv series was initially canceled in 2007 but was revived by MTV in 2013. He has since gone on to host America's Got Talent and The Masked Singer.
