The actors who helmed 2005's The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe are remembering the film on its 20th anniversary.

The four British actors who starred as the Pevensie siblings – Lucy (Georgie Henley), Edmund (Skandar Keynes), Susan (Anna Popplewell) and Peter (William Moseley) – spoke to Metro about the memories from making the fantasy film, which was adapted from the iconic C.S. Lewis novel by director Andrew Adamson.

"I think I was reading a sad book at the time," Henley, now 30, told the outlet about what led to her being cast in the role of the youngest of the four Pevensie siblings. When a casting director saw her, she got the part.

Moseley, meanwhile, said he was up against some 3,000 other young actors, and Anna recounted having to play table tennis during her year-and-a-half-long audition process.

The film also starred James McAvoy as fan-favorite Mr. Tumnus. In October, while appearing on the X-Men Days of Future cast panel at New York Comic-Con, the actor looked back on some of his most magical memories from set, revealing that one of his closest friends was Henley, with whom he shared a number of scenes.

“I think Andrew kind of, like, stuck us together,” McAvoy recalled, adding, “Like, the director was a great guy — great director — just hoping we would get along a lot." He continued, “And she was a really young girl at the time. [...] I don't think she acted before, so [...] I just spent a lot of time with Georgie and her family, and they were really lovely.”

The Speak No Evil star went on to say that being on the set of such an expansive fantasy project felt “bonkers” at the time. “Just being on the little sets is bonkers,” he told the Comic-Con audience. “You get used to things, but I was like, ‘Oh! Oh!’ You know what I mean?”

Speaking to Metro, Henley recounted her experience working with McAvoy, saying, "He was so patient with me, an 8-year-old who is discovering all this stuff [and] sometimes has all the energy in the world."

"‘I want to say he was 24 at the time, the maturity and generosity that he operated with — when I think about it now — I realize how exceptional it is," she added.

Moseley added his own costar memories, telling Metro that Tilda Swinton (who starred as the White Witch) loved participating in stunt sequences — including a sword fight scene.

"It was a 110-beat sword fight, it becomes like a dance, and then the stunt doubles come in every now and again, and they do the dangerous bits," Moseley said. "Tilda loved doing it. She’s not a prima donna by any stretch of the imagination. She really wants to do all of it, which made it really fun."

Mosely added that the film's popularity seems to transcend culture, adding, "People in Japan love it, then in Mexico, then in India. It transcends religions and cultures. [This story] transcends everything."
