A new documentary is offering a peek behind the curtain of Saved By the Bell — and a look at the "harsh realities" faced by some of the cast members.

The documentary is one episode in the second season of Hollywood Demons, which premieres Monday, April 20, at 9 p.m. ET/PT on ID, and will also be available to stream on HBO Max.

The episode, titled "Scarred By the Bell," will delve into some of the "controversies" of the show.

Per an episode description: "A beloved 90’s high school sitcom, Saved by the Bell captured the heart of a generation. However, in the years since its premiere, stalking, lies, sex tapes, and other controversies have tarnished the sitcom’s reputation."

The episode will feature interviews from Saved by the Bell actors, including Lark Voorhies (who played Lisa on the show), Ed Alonzo (Max), Max Battimo (Mikey Gonzalez), as well as members of the production team and family members who "pull back the curtain on the harsh realities that some cast members faced when the cameras stopped rolling."

In a trailer for the show, a visibly emotional Vorhiees, 52, can be seen saying "I miss him," while speaking about her late co-star Dustin Diamond, who died in 2021 at 44.

Diamond — who had a series of run-ins with the law and served time in jail in 2016 in connection with a stabbing during a street brawl — portrayed lovable goofball "Screech" on the show, while Voorhies portrayed Lisa, a popular fashionista and the apple of Screech's eye.

Diamond was one of the six core cast members of Saved by the Bell, which ran for four seasons from 1989 to 1993 on NBC. He went on to star in spin-offs The College Years (1993-1994) and The New Class (1993-2000).

Almost a decade later, in 2009, the actor published a tell-all book called Behind the Bell, in which he made disparaging claims about his costars, including allegations about drug use and sexual relationships.

Diamond — who did not reprise his role for the Peacock reboot of the series in 2020, later publicly apologized to co-stars Voorhies, Mark-Paul Gosselaar, Mario Lopez, Tiffani Thiessen and Elizabeth Berkley.

In January 2021, Diamond's longtime manager, Roger Paul, told PEOPLE that the actor had been diagnosed with cancer. While the cancer "spread rapidly throughout his system," the actor "did not suffer."

"Dustin Diamond was a character in and of himself: an unpredictable spitfire who always left us shocked, but never left us bored," the statement read in part. "We are thankful he trusted us enough to share his genuine, authentic self with our team. We wish you knew him in the way that we did. We please ask that you give room for privacy to our team and Mr. Diamond's family during this tragic time, as we grieve and remember the memories spent together. This loss is as much stinging as it is sudden."

The "Scarred by the Bell" episode premieres Monday, May 4, at 9 p.m. ET/8 p.m. CT on ID and will stream on HBO Max. Other episodes this season will explore iconic touchstones like The Jerry Springer Show and 16 and Pregnant, among others.
