La Liga has incredible momentum heading into the 2026-27 season.

FC Barcelona superstar Lamine Yamal along with Pau Cubarsí, Gavi, Dani Olmo and Pedri won the World Cup with Spain, the country's second men's title.

Real Madrid's Kylian Mbappé of France and Jude Bellingham of England faced off in a raucous 10-goal third place match, which the Three Lions won. Mbappé made history with his 10 World Cup goals, enough to win him the Golden Boot — making him the first player to win the award twice in a row.

The Spanish league is among the most elite in the world with rich history, traditions and kits that have transcended time.

This year in La Liga, there are many good kits with collars, a fan favorite design element. Levante's home and away jerseys are very well done with accent stripes on the collar and sleeves. Málaga's home kit has a strong collar design and some texture to the weave of the jersey. Real Racing Club utilized green very nicely in their primary and secondary kits, which both have collars. Sevilla went ultra classic with a red base and a sharp black collar for their away kit.

But some stood above the rest.

Color is very important when analyzing a kit. Whether a club chooses a bright, eye-catching base or a boring neutral can make a difference. Other elements like texture and pattern turn a kit from a yawn to a yes.

And stripes! From FC Barcelona's timeless home look to some twists on the print that are hit or miss, stripes are always a part of La Liga.

This is preppy perfection. Celta's third kit has a bright red base with a delightful blue argyle pattern and a fan favorite collar. Real Racing Club's black goalkeeper kit also has a nice touch of argyle if that's your style.

THIS is how to do a pop of neon. Atlético Madrid's away kit is a sleek black design with a hidden triangle pattern on the base. The bright yellow stripes down the sides of the jersey and around the sleeves make this sporty and sleek.

Athletic Club's third kit has a dreamy sky blue base, probably the best color of all the kits. Besides that, there's striking white stripes that cut across the shirt. The design is inspired by the slats of San Mamés, the club's stadium. A kit with a story is always a good thing.

Real Betis' home kit is a masterclass of how to do stripes with flair. The bold green contrasts nicely with the white and the mini stripes cutting across diagonally create a perfect amount of movement. Adding a collar is a sure way to boost a kit design.

3. Elche - Away

FC Barcelona is sure to turn heads in this season's away kit, which has a black-to-purple ombre and luxe gold accents. But we think Elche really upped their game and will look like royalty in their away kit with a similar color scheme. It has a deep purple base and a dynamic dot pattern. The swirls really create movement and the gold accents add a touch of luxury.

Real Madrid's home kit is fairly simple with a white base and green and red stripes. But the famed club's away kit is a rich forest green color that feels like tradition. There's a subtle "RMCF" pattern that adds some interest. Everyone was ooo-ing and ahh-ing when this released.

1. Deportivo Alavés - Away

The details on Alavés' second kit are fascinating. The black base serves as an excellent backdrop for a swirl linear pattern that represents the sprawling vineyards of Rioja Alavesa in the Basque Country. The light pink stripes around the neck and sleeves make this kit exquisite. A+

Worst La Liga kits5. Valencia - Away

The sentiment of evoking the sea and sunset of the region for Valencia's away kit is nice. Who doesn't love that scenery? But this bleh blue and an awkward rose gold-y orange just feels forced. And there's also the bat from the club's crest on the back, but it's teeny tiny. There's so much creativity that could happen with a bat! Missed opportunity here.

4. Atlético Madrid - Home

Yes, it's tradition, but Atlético Madrid's red and white striped home kit is simply obnoxious. The little triton design within the stripes doesn't help and the fact that the back is half a block of red is awkward too.

3. Villarreal - Away

Villarreal's home kit is a striking yellow jersey, which is sure to be polarizing. But its boring gray away kit is on the worst list because it's exactly that ... a yawn. Gray doesn't always have to be ho-hum because some texture or gradient can make it feel gritty. But there is none of that here and the blue stripes don't do anything to add pizzazz, either.

2. Elche - Home

Similar to Turkey's clunky World Cup kit, Elche did themselves no favors by putting a big green stripe across the chest of their home kit. There's nothing flattering about it.

1. Rayo Vallecano - Home, Away

Rayo Vallecano went with the same overall design for both their home and away kits in different colorways and it's equally cringey. The main design element is a huge lightning bolt that runs from top to bottom. It is supposed to reflect the crest, but instead of evoking something stable, it feels jolty and like some sort of superhero logo was forced. No thank you.
