Ray J and his estranged wife, Princess Love, share two children together.
The musician and the reality star became parents when they welcomed their first child, Melody Love Norwood, in 2018 and expanded their family in 2019 with the addition of son Epik Ray Norwood.
Ray J (né William Ray Norwood Jr.) began dating Love in 2013 and in February 2024, she filed for divorce for the fourth time after previously reconciling. In November 2025, Ray J was arrested after allegedly pulling a gun on Love during an argument that was caught on livestream. He was charged with six misdemeanors in the ongoing case and has denied that he drew the weapon on Love, per Hot97.
The musician, who shared that he was hospitalized in January 2026, previously spoke about the importance of prioritizing his children.
“I guess happiness is important, but for me, if my kids are happy, then I don’t care about happiness,” Ray J said on The Breakfast Club radio show in March 2024.

He shared the news on his Instagram, writing “Proudest DAD on the planet! Can’t explain the feeling — no words could mean it! I understand what parents feel now and why the love and bond is from God above!”
The "Sexy Can I" singer continued to express his overwhelming joy on social media, writing in the caption of another photo of him with his firstborn, “I love my daughter sooo much and I can’t thank God enough for giving this #blessing to @princesslove and me!!!”

On his first Father’s Day, the Celebrity Big Brother alum dropped a visual accompaniment to one of his 2005 tracks. The video featured behind-the-scenes footage of him and Princess at the hospital the day Melody was born.
Six years later, on his daughter's birthday, Ray J shared a since-deleted photo on Instagram alongside a sweet tribute.
"MY HEART AND SOUL ... I cried so much full of love when you first entered this world!! — YOU FILL MY HEART UP WITH HAPPINESS EVERY MINUTE OF THE DAY!!" he wrote. "I WILL DO ANY AND EVERYTHING TO LOVE YOU EVERYDAY AND PROTECT YOU ... I’m truly blessed to be your dad!!"

A few months earlier, the pair shared family photos on Instagram announcing the pregnancy news alongside the caption, “Baby #2 on the way! @MelodyLoveNorwood your [sic] about to be a big sister!”
Ray J and Love also announced the sex of their second child on the singer's Instagram, via a since-deleted video of a helicopter dropping down blue smoke. “We’re about to hop on the chopper. They’re going to lay down the smoke. It could be pink or blue,” he said beforehand. “We’re going to find out right now, way up in the air.”

The R&B singer often posts videos on Instagram of his kids playing together. In one 2023 clip, he expressed his gratitude, writing, “I love being a father!! Best blessing i ever had!! THANK YOU GOD!!”
Epik’s aunt, Brandy, shared her love for her nephew on Instagram for his 2nd birthday. “Happy Birthday little guy @epikraynorwood ♥️ you have brought so much unspeakable joy to our family," she wrote. "We love you so much. My favorite nephew. Love Auntie ♥️.”
