The Voice coaches Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg chose one contestant each to move on to the season 28 finale

Snoop and Horan each explained their thought process before announcing a decision

America has the chance to vote another contestant into the finale, though the winner won't be revealed until next week

Team Snoop and Team Niall are ready for the season 28 finale.

On Monday, Dec. 8, coaches Snoop Dogg and Niall Horan chose one contestant from their teams on The Voice to move on to the finale next week.

Decisions began with Snoop, 54, who told his four remaining contestants he feels "honored to have you in my life."

"This is merely the beginning. Thank you all for allowing me to be you guys' coach," the rapper said to his team of Yoshihanaa, Ralph Edwards, Mindy Miller and Toni Lorene.

When host Carson Daly asked him to announce his decision, Snoop confessed, "My heart is pounding." The artist explained his choice was based on "perseverance, showmanship and the spirit of music."

"So with that being said, Ralph," he said, later adding that Edwards has "an incredible voice"

"I feel like he's strong enough to deal with anybody on the other three teams," Snoop continued. "I feel like the best team headed to the finals is definitely Team Snoop."

Edwards added, "It's a dream come true to be this far in the live show. I'm getting yeses and I don't know what to do with them anymore."

Then, Horan was left to decide between DEK of Hearts, Aiden Ross, Kirbi and Ava Nat.

"Since I've been on this show, this is the best team across the board I've had, without a shadow of a doubt," Horan, 32, said. "I loved working with all of you. I have to make a heart wrenching decision but I really hope America starts picking up that phone and voting for one of you guys please."

When the moment of truth came around, Horan said his decision was based on "a catalogue of performances and what I know is coming down the road."

"And for that reason my finalist is Aiden," he said.

The "This Town" singer concluded, "I think Aiden is the perfect person to represent Team Niall in the finale. He's comfortable in his own voice — to think that this guy is only 20 years old and has that talent is frightening."

Afterward, Ross expressed feeling "so thankful that Niall saw something in me."

While the coaches each already chose their finalists, America got the chance to vote after the episode aired for one of the remaining six contestants to move on to the finale. The winner won't be revealed until the finale on Monday, Dec. 15.

Last week, coach Michael Bublé chose Jazz McKenzie and coach Reba McEntire chose Aubrey Nicole as finalists.
