Young immediately admitted, "I don’t have any speech prepared. Obviously, I don’t. It’s 'Messy,' do you know what I mean?"

She added, "I don’t know what to say. Thank you so much. You can tell by my f---ing face. Sorry, sorry, sorry."

"I’m very, very grateful for this," she said, before concluding, "Nick [Shymansky], we did it, Mom. I love you."

Young's win comes four months after she collapsed on stage at All Things Go festival in September 2025. At the end of the month, she announced that she was canceling all of her upcoming performances because she was "going away for a while."

At the time, she wrote that she was so “so sorry to let anyone down” who had purchased a ticket to see her perform, and that “it hurts me more than you know.”

“I really hope you’ll give me a second chance once I’ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger,” Young wrote at the time.

The "Messy" singer then made her first public appearance months later when she attended Lily Allen's Christmas party in December 2025.

The following day, she shared a statement updating fans on her well-being. "I just wanted to express gratitude to everyone who has given me time and space to gather myself and get my head in a better place," she wrote on Instagram. "I’ve felt so much love and support from you all, and it has helped more than you will ever now."

The Grammys are broadcasting live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on CBS or stream them live and on-demand on Paramount+.
