Leslie Mann says she was “nervous” to meet Spa Weekend costar Adam Demos after she had binged his erotic series, Sex/Life.
“I had this, you know, private time with him,” she admitted in a recent interview with Demos.
When they were finally introduced, “I was trying to be cool and I was not cool,” added Mann.
Leslie Mann has shared the screen with everyone from Robert De Niro to Zac Efron, but no one had her flustered quite like Adam Demos.
In her latest film, Spa Weekend, the actress costars with Isla Fisher and Anna Faris as friends who escape to a luxury spa retreat for a little R&R — rest and romance, in her character’s case once she locks eyes with the resort’s hunky yoga teacher, played by the Sex/Life star.

Before meeting him on the set, Mann was familiar with Demos’ body of work (ahem): While quarantining alone during COVID, she binged his raunchy erotic drama that streamed on Netflix.
“When I was told I was going to meet Adam, I was like, ‘Oh, oh, oh, okay, that’s good,’” Mann recalled during a cast interview on SiriusXM’s Smith Sisters Live. “And then I was like, you know, kind of nervous to meet him because I had this, you know, private time with him. And I remember he walked in, he had his sunglasses on his head and I was trying to be cool and I was not cool. I was really sweating and I remember looking at him in the eye and trying to, you know, just be cool and my eyes… like, they just shifted.”
Demos, who was learning this revelation for the first time, admitted he hadn’t noticed Mann’s nerves — because he was too distracted by his own.
“But I’m also coming into your movie, in your world,” he explained to a red-faced Mann, who’s been married to director Judd Apatow for 29 years. “So I’m like, ‘I hope I can show up,’ and so we’re both thinking two things.”

Demos is a better actor than he thinks, because Mann was fooled. “You seemed so much more calm and cool and collected than me,” she told him. “Anyway, but that happened. Yeah, I’m glad I got that off my chest.”

Demos split from his Sex/Life costar Sarah Shahi earlier this year after five years of dating.
“There was an element of the relationship that people really felt belonged to them, which was very sweet and heart-warming,” Shahi told Us Weekly in January while promoting her book Life Is Lifey: The A to Z’s on Navigating Life’s Messy Middle. “The flip to that is when things end, you feel like you’re going through it twice.”
Spa Weekend, which also stars Michelle Buteau, arrives in theaters on Aug. 21.
