King Charles and Queen Camilla have confirmed their visit to the United States is on

The couple was invited by President Donald Trump, and their trip comes as the nation prepares to mark the 250th anniversary of American Independence

King Charles is heading across the pond.

The King, 77, will be joined by Queen Camilla, 78, for a State Visit to the U.S. in April. The trip will also include a visit to the Caribbean island of Bermuda for Charles, Buckingham Palace confirmed on Tuesday, March 31.

Although exact events and dates have not been confirmed, the royal couple have been invited as guests of President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump as they celebrate the "historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship" between the two countries, the palace said.

The trip comes in the year that commemorates the U.S.'s 250th anniversary of independence during the reign of King Charles’ ancestor King George III.

The visit to Bermuda will be Charles' first, as monarch, to a British Overseas Territory.

In a statement, Buckingham Palace said on March 31, "On advice of His Majesty’s Government, and at the invitation of The President of the United States, The King and Queen will undertake a State Visit to the United States of America."

"Their Majesties’ program will celebrate the historic connections and the modern bilateral relationship between the United Kingdom and the United States, marking the 250th anniversary of American Independence."

It added, "The King will then continue to Bermuda to undertake His Majesty’s first Royal Visit as Monarch to a British Overseas Territory."

The announcement of the visit to the U.S. came as no surprise. Trump, 79, even said during a chat with journalists last month that the visit was expected "very soon."

Talking about the King in the wake of the arrest of his brother, the ex-Prince Andrew, on Feb. 19 on suspicion of misconduct in public office, the president said, "It's a very sad thing to see it and to see what's going on with his brother, who's obviously coming to our country very soon, and he's a fantastic man, the King."

The visit represents a return invitation following King Charles and Queen Camilla hosting the Trumps in September 2025 in the U.K. The British royals greeted the president and first lady with a ceremonial welcome and carriage procession, as well as a glamorous state banquet at Windsor Castle.

Since that visit, and especially since the start of the conflict with Iran, relations between the U.S. and U.K. have become strained at the political level after Trump blamed the U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer for being slow to support his bombing campaign with the use of British bases.

It is Charles’ first State Visit to the U.S. His mother, the late Queen Elizabeth, undertook four outward State Visits to the U.S. in 1957, 1976, 1991 and 2007. As Prince of Wales, he has been 19 times, including with Camilla on what was their first foreign tour as husband and wife in 2005.

It’s also thought that Prince William, 43, will visit the U.S. in the summer of 2026 to watch the FIFA World Cup as a soccer super fan and patron of the Football Association, English soccer's governing body. The tournament is set to be played across 16 cities in the U.S., Mexico and Canada between June 11 and July 19.
