Jackson White was asked about the “craziest thing” he did to impress girlfriend Grace Van Patten before they “started dating” on The Drew Barrymore Show
He revealed that he let her "tattoo" him "all over" his body and showed off some of her work
White and Patten met while filming the Hulu series Tell Me Lies in 2022 and confirmed they were dating in November of that same year
Jackson White’s Tell Me Lies costar and girlfriend, Grace Van Patten, inked her way into his heart.
The 29-year-old actor was asked on The Drew Barrymore Show about the “craziest thing” he did to impress Van Patten before they “started dating” — and he revealed that it involved something a bit more permanent.
“You know what it’s like in the courtship phase?,” White shared in an Instagram clip. “I let her tattoo me, like, all over my body. ”
“For real?” host Drew Barrymore, 50, responded. “With a sharpie… or a stick and poke?”
He confirmed it was the latter, which prompted gasps from the audience. The Charlie's Angels star then asked if Van Patten did any of the tattoos that he had that were visible.
“Like [she did] all these hand tattoos,” he said as he held the back of his hand up for the cameras to see. On his middle finger an “x” could be seen and an “o” on his ring finger as well.
“That’s her?,” Barrymore asked. The actor pointed to the back of his hand, “And like there she gave me, like, a thing there.”

“She gave me some lightning bolts on my…,” he trailed off before pointing behind his ear. “She went crazy. And I wanted to do that. I love tattoos, but I was also like ‘Yeah, do whatever you want. Here’s my body. Go do it. I’m your canvas.’ ”
The 50 First Dates star joked, “On behalf of all women right now, swoon,” to which White responded that she was “so funny.”
Several people in the comments of the Instagram video chimed in on their thoughts on the whole thing, including one person who noted, “That is really sweet of him! And they way he said it!” Others shared that they thought he and Van Patten were the “best couple.”
However, some were not so keen on the tattooing idea, with one person commenting that it was “crazy.” Another joked, “this is a wild devotion.”
White and Van Patten met while filming the Hulu series Tell Me Lies in 2022 and confirmed they were dating in November of that same year when they stepped out holding hands.

Ahead of the show's season 2 premiere in September 2024, Van Patten spoke to PEOPLE, sharing that it was "trippy" to work with White on the show "because we are together in real life and he knows me better than anyone." She also opened up about what it was like jumping into the toxic love story of their onscreen counterparts.
"I had this fear of, 'You're going to know when I'm acting.' Before we got into it, I was like, 'Am I going to be insecure? Am I going to be... Because you know me so well, you're going to know,' " she said. "And then once we were on set, I was like, 'No, it's actually the opposite.' "
"It makes me feel so safe and so comfortable and able to go there and be vulnerable, because I'm so comfortable with him. And that part of it was so beautiful,” she added.
