Howard Stern has extended his contract with SiriusXM
The radio host announced on Tuesday, Dec. 16, that he signed a three-year contract extension for The Howard Stern Show
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all,” he said.
Howard Stern isn't going anywhere.
The veteran shock jock, 71, revealed on the Tuesday, Dec. 16 episode of his eponymous talk show that he has signed a contract extension with SiriusXM to keep The Howard Stern Show on airwaves for an additional three years.
“I’m happy to announce that I’ve figured out a way to have it all,” Stern said during his final show of the year. “More free time and continuing to be on the radio. So yes, we are coming back for three years.”
He later added, "I'm excited about it, because you know what? I do still love radio."
Per SiriusXM, Stern thanked those at the company, adding that he was "really torn up" but thinks "the show is better than ever." A rep for the company has since confirmed the news of the announcement.

Stern's extension news comes three months after the host shut down rumors of a show cancellation, noting that there was "zero truth" to the chatter that he was being fired over being "too woke," per The Hollywood Reporter. He also clarified that there was no animosity on his end regarding airtime and representation of both Andy Cohen and podcaster Alex Cooper.
“What pisses me off is now I can’t leave,” Stern said in September. “I’ve been thinking about retiring. Now I can’t, because then they'll say I got pushed out. So I'll be back.”

The news also follows Stern's on-air prank with Cohen, who surprise-introduced the Sept. 8 show before Stern eventually popped in with Robin Quivers. “SiriusXM and my team have been talking about how we go forward in the future. They’ve approached me, they’ve sat down with me like they normally do and they’re fantastic. We've been talking,” Stern said elsewhere.
Stern kicked off his career as a radio host in the 1980s and later debuted on Sirius Satellite Radio (now SiriusXM) in 2006. He was eventually inducted into the Radio Hall of Fame in 2012 and made Forbes' 2022 list of the highest-paid entertainers. In 2020, according to Deadline, he inked an additional five-year deal with SiriusXM for between a reported $450 million and $500 million.
"He’s been with me and the company going on two decades, and so he’s pretty happy, but he’s also able, like many great artists, to stop whenever he wants," SiriusXM president and chief content officer Scott Greenstein told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024.
He added, "Nobody will ever replace them. We would never try to replace them. It’s not what is even appropriate, but even practical."
