Sean “Diddy” Combs is suing Lil Rod for allegedly stealing personal footage for the 50 Cent-produced Netflix documentary titled Sean Combs: The Reckoning. According to court documents (via Radar), the rapper claimed that the music producer had misused the access he was given while working on his 2023 album, The Love Album: Off the Grid.
The documents stated that Combs felt betrayed by the music producer’s actions because he had been provided extensive access. However, he allegedly used that access for personal gain, allegedly taking data that was later used by the streaming platform.

According to the court documents (via Radar), Rodney ‘Lil Rod’ Jones had worked with Diddy for approximately a year, from October 2022 to October 2023. During this period, the Last Night artist collaborated with Combs for The Love Album: Off the Grid, and he was given “extensive access.”
This included Rod traveling with Combs and spending time at his homes while helping him produce the album. But he allegedly used his access to obtain computer drives and footage that the rapper had been developing for a documentary about his life.
The report stated that Combs claims that Lil Rod had accessed those drives without “authorization,” the material, and then allegedly sold it to Netflix or 50 Cent, which was used in Sean Combs: The Reckoning. The rapper’s lawyers referred to 50 Cent and other parties involved in the Netflix project as ‘Documentary Competitors.’
Furthermore, the filing stated that Combs was unaware of the alleged footage theft until December 2025, when he allegedly realized that footage used in the Netflix documentary originally belonged to him. It also stated that the rapper believes that Lil Rod still has possession of those computer drives.
In another report from Rolling Stone, the lengthy document mentioned that Combs had also claimed that the music producer had made several defamatory statements in the documentary. The 40-year-old appeared in Episode 4 of the Netflix series. Rod had alleged that during his time working on the album, he was drugged and s******* harassed by the rapper.
While Combs has repeatedly denied those claims, his legal team has used some of these statements not only to deny them but also to target him. They claimed that Rodney Jones was engaged in a “campaign for revenge and to profit from Mr. Combs.”

Diddy Seeks Damages Over Lil Rod’s Alleged ‘Computer Fraud’
In the same report by Radar, Diddy is said to have claimed that Jones’ actions had deprived him of the ability to use the footage “exclusively” in his own planned documentary. Consequently, it caused him major financial losses and tarnished his public image.
The counterclaims included allegations of “computer fraud, unfair business practices, conversion, replevin, and defamation.” The rapper now seeks damages and other relief, as he continues to deny the allegations against him.
The court documents reported that Combs had alleged that Rod had used the footage as “leverage to secure significant screen time in the documentary.”The filing further alleges that Rod used the opportunity to make the “false and defamatory allegations” against the rapper.
But more importantly, the filing alleges that the Netflix project was marketed as featuring ‘never-before-seen’ footage. They argued that the exclusive nature of the unseen video gave them “significant commercial value.”
The Rolling Stone reported that Combs seeks damages to be determined at trial and demands that Jones return those computer drives and destroy any copies he may have created.
