Daniel Radcliffe has a surprising pick for the play he thinks Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy should do on Broadway.

Radcliffe, 36, caught up exclusively with PEOPLE on the red carpet at Hudson Theatre for a special New York City screening of Merrily We Roll Along on Monday, Dec. 1. The film is a live recording of the 2023 Broadway revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical that actor was previously a part of.

Tom Felton, 38, who played Draco Malfoy in the Harry Potter films (and is currently reprising the role onstage in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), was also in attendance, prompting PEOPLE to ask Radcliffe which Broadway play a Harry-Draco duo should do together — if any.

“I mean, actually we should do Waiting for Godot. This is perfect. We're in this theater,” Radcliffe said, referring to the fact that the play — which is about two friends searching for meaning in an absurd world — is currently running at the same space with actors Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

“Or just surely the answer is probably Cursed Child, but I don't know,” Radcliffe added.

Later at the screening, Radcliffe and Felton shared a sweet embrace and exchanged a few words. The two then posed for a photo — the first public picture they've taken together in more than a decade. The actors, of course, first met while filming Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, which was released 24 years ago in November 2001.

Though their characters were famously on-screen enemies, the two actors have maintained a supportive real-life relationship. Felton praised Radcliffe — a stage veteran who won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical for his role in Merrily We Roll Along — for inspiring him to get into the theater.

“I’ve taken a few tips from Potter. He was one of the early inspirations for me to come to Broadway,” Felton said, during a November appearance on Good Morning America. “I saw him, I think, on his first show — what is it, 10 plus years ago? And now he’s obviously a Tony winner and a big inspiration for the reason why Broadway is so special.”

On Nov. 11, Felton made his Broadway debut with The Cursed Child, and is reprising his role as Draco. The production, now in its seventh year in N.Y.C., follows the next generation of Hogwarts families, centering on Harry and Draco’s sons as they grapple with the legacy of the wizarding war.

While speaking to PEOPLE at the 2025 Tony Awards in June, Felton even shared that Radcliffe had been helping him prepare for his big Broadway debut.

"My old school chum, Potter, Radcliffe, has done quite a bit of Broadway, so he's holding my hand and certainly helping me through all the things that are hard to learn," the actor said. "But from what I gather, it's an amazing community of people. The fans are really, really gracious and excited. So I'm just thrilled to be part of it."
