Chiefs' Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce earn a spot on an unlikely list
Sports Illustrated writer Mike Kadlick recently made lists of players who are unlikely ever to be traded, and named the Kansas City Chiefs superstar duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce.
“After mulling retirement, Kelce signed an extension with the Chiefs last month that will bring him back to Kansas City for a 14th NFL season—and sets up the 2026 campaign to potentially be his last. If a trade out of K.C. was ever pursued, the tight end would likely call it quits before the paperwork was even filed,” wrote Kadlick. “A three-time Super Bowl champion (and three-time Super Bowl MVP), Mahomes is already a surefire Hall of Famer and has set himself up to be in the GOAT conversation when it’s all said and done. Even as he recovers from a season-ending knee injury, the 30-year-old will never be traded by the Chiefs.”

During their almost decade-long journey together as teammates, Mahomes and Kelce have shattered many team and league records. Together, they hold the NFL record for the most touchdowns by a duo in postseason history with 16.
Mahomes and Kelce have over 50 touchdown connections in the regular season and playoffs combined, surpassing all-time duos like Joe Montana to Jerry Rice and Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski.
