Chappell Roan stunned on the Grammys red carpet on Sunday, putting a new twist on the naked dress trend.

The "Subway" singer made waves with a sheer maroon Mugler dress draped from faux nipple rings. To complete the look, Roan's back was adorned with an intricate fake tattoo, nodding at her medieval-inspired Visions of Damsels & Other Dangerous Things Tour. Her makeup artist, Andrew Dahling, shared intel on the look with *Marie Claire.*

"We started with this very archival, full, bare moment," Dahling says. "Once the tattoos came into play, everything became very medieval, but in a real way. It's still fantasy and something otherworldly, but grounded."
