‘All That’ Star Christy Knowings Dies at 46

Christy Knowings, best known for her work on Nickelodeon’s hit ’90s kids’ comedy variety show All That, died Tuesday, August 11, after suffering an asthma attack that left her with brain damage. According to TMZ, she died after being removed from life support by her family at a Los Angeles-area hospital. She was 46.
Her aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced Knowings’ death on Wednesday on Facebook.
Knowings joined All That in 1997 at the start of Season 4. According to Variety, she was brought onto the show at the same time as new cast members Danny Tamberelli and Leon Frierson. Knowings is particularly remembered for playing the character Jessica alongside Amanda Bynes in the popular recurring “Whateverrr!!!” sketches, as well as portraying the unhinged news anchor Brenda Stone on “Channel 6 1/2 News” comedy bits.
She spent three seasons on the popular kids’ show, working beside fellow cast members Kel Mitchell, Kenan Thompson, Nick Cannon, Amanda Bynes, and others.

She was born February 25, 1980, in the Bronx, New York, and the twin sister of actor Chris Knowings. Her career spanned sketch comedy, television guest spots, and independent music. Following All That, Knowings appeared in several episodes of Sesame Street from 2008 to 2011 alongside Chris.

In recent years, Knowings stepped away from acting to focus instead on music. She released a folk/hip-hop single titled “To the World” in late 2020.

Former All That costar Kenan Thompson wrote on Instagram, “Man, this one hit hard!!! Rest well Christy!!! Never could have imagined this day!! Sending so much love to her family!! She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!! Show @christyknowings some love y’all!!!”
Costar Josh Serverresponded in the comments, “Ohhhhhh nooooooo, what I’m just seeing this.”
“Christy was a multi-talented lady. Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work,” her manager Al Hill said in a statement to Variety.
